They dine under old vaulted ceilings at large, rough wooden tables in the bourgeois-peasant style of the 15th/16th century.

"Servants and maids" - that's what they call the waiters here - lead you through an entertaining evening of history. After washing your hands in an old wooden tub, you will be given a huge handkerchief and a welcome glass of honey mead in a cow horn. The food is cooked according to recipes from the cookbook of the Augsburg patrician's daughter Philippine Welser (1527 to 1580) and the dishes are served to all guests in hand-made clay dishes. The only instrument available for eating is a historical stiletto.

There is a lot to laugh about, as table manners are observed and violations are punished with a funny punishment.
